Just One

Too many nights
The battle's raged
Filled me with my pain
Left me empty again
The strength of my love
Unanswered

I dream these nights
Of days of old
When a sword could slay
The darkest Lord
When a lady waited
Patiently
When the homefires burned
And warmed the soul
When magic ruled
And honor was true

Tis in this dream
I hear the soft sweet sound
Of M'Lady breathing
As she sleeps beside me
Feeling her warm skin
Against me
So scarred and worn
From the battles
I have known
I gently touch her
As the flower
That she is

And with my touch
As she awakens
Seeing the pain
Flowing deep in my eyes
She knows my need
As she touches my face
And sighs smiling
Awaiting my embrace
I pull her close
And breath her in
As I feel my need arising
She opens herself to me
Giving me all that she is
I take her gently, firmly
Lovingly

And as we blend
And become one
My need is transformed
From mortal pain
To a fresh morning rain
She looks into my eyes
And I find myself
Looking back into her
I show her my deepest self
And she holds me close
And heals me

This dream of mine
Is all I have
To keep the demons
Far behind
To find a lady
Is my solemn quest
Just one so true
Amidst the rest
And having quenched
My war-torn soul
To hold her close
In my great arms
And protect her
Forever
From all wrong
